Carl Sandburg College Public Safety Academy in Carthage July 23-24

Registration is available for the inaugural Public Safety Academy at Carl Sandburg College’s Branch Campus in Carthage, which takes place July 23-24.

Hosted by Sandburg’s Corporate & Leisure College, the Public Safety Academy is a summer enrichment program for students entering grades 5-9 that will give them the chance to explore public safety careers through simulated activities and guest speakers from those professions.

The academy meets from 9 a.m.-noon July 23-24 at the Branch Campus, 305 Sandburg Dr., Carthage. The cost is $20 with a registration deadline of July 12.

Participants will receive first-hand instruction from members of the Carthage Fire Department, Hancock County Sheriff’s Department and Hancock County EMS in addition to learning about cybersecurity and criminal justice from Sandburg instructors.
